Database

The FLAreaCodeLookup Pro database supports the following:
  • more than 24,000 U.S. cities
  • 257 Canadian cities
  • 22 other North American cities
  • 8 non-geographic area codes
Program Requirements

The program requires the following:
  • Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, or a later Windows operating system
  • 700 MHz Pentium or better is recommended when listing all area codes in large states
  • 800 x 600 pixel display, or better (640 x 480 is ok with the maps turned off)
  • 256-color display, or better (16 colors are ok, but the Help file is more readable with 256)
  • approximately 840 KB disk space for the installation zip file
  • approximately 4.9 MB disk space for the installed program
Program Limitations

1. In some cases the program may list more area codes or cities than expected. One reason is that area code regions often have uneven boundaries. Company offices or private residences may have mailing addresses in one city but list telephone numbers in an adjacent city. Another factor is the time it takes for businesses and residences to transition to a new area code. During the transition period both the old and new area codes are active.
2. As indicated in the database description above and as implied by the program maps, the program is geared more towards the U.S. than Canada. If there is sufficient demand, we will add more Canadian cities. Currently the database contains Canadian cities that have populations over 10,000.

3. The maps highlight the entire state containing an area code or city, not a specific area code region.

4. The database does not contain all cities of the United States, so there may be cases where you need the area code for a city that is not supported.

5. The time zone display does not take Daylight Saving Time into account.
